Summer in the City: de zon vertraagt de stad

Het leven in de stad is over het algemeen nogal gehaast. Mensen sprinten naar het station, terwijl auto’s voorbij razen of juist stilstaan in de file. Meestal gaat het goed, maar soms kunnen de gemoederen hoog oplopen. Haast maakt de mens niet mooier.

Bij zomerse temperaturen zijn we gedwongen een stapje terug te doen. De brandende zon neemt de stad over en dwingt tot vertragen. Mensen struinen loom door de straten en ploffen voor een verkoelend drankje neer op het terras. Pas in de avond komt de stad tot leven, wanneer de bewoners hun deur uit komen voor een ontspannen ommetje in de ondergaande zon, terwijl de warmte nog uit het beton straalt.
