Rainbow Rubix: een rubix kubus voor aan de muur

Je kent ze vast wel: de rubiks kubussen. Waarschijnlijk heb jij als kind (of volwassene) diverse pogingen gedaan om alle vierkantjes van dezelfde kleur aan een zijde van de kubus te plaatsen. Ik in ieder geval wel, maar ondanks mijn puzzeltalent en goed ruimtelijk inzicht geloof ik niet dat het me ooit gelukt is. En dan te bedenken dat wereldrecord staat op slechts 3,08 seconden! Hoe dan?!

Met wandobject Rainbow Rubix heb ik vals gespeeld. Er is namelijk maar een zijde met vierkantjes, namelijk het front. Maar dan wel hele mooie vierkantjes van glas in alle kleuren van de regenboog. De kern van dit wandobject bestaat uit een houten kubus die deels is bekleed met koper. De kubus wordt gehalveerd door plexiglas platen in fuchsia en fluorgroen die in de lucht zweven en een prachtig kleurenspel op de muur opleveren.

Rainbow Rubix: a Rubix Cube for your wall

You’re probably familiar with them: Rubix Cubes. As a child (or adult), you probably did several attempts to place all the same-colored squares on one side of the cube. I certainly did, but despite my talent for puzzles and excellent spatial awareness, I don’t think I ever succeeded. How bizarre thing that the world record is only 3.08 seconds!

I cheated with the Rainbow Rubix sculpture. There’s only one side with squares, namely the front. But these are beautiful glass squares in all the colors of the rainbow. The core of this sculpture consists of a wooden cube partially clad in copper. The cube is divided in half by plexiglass panels in fuchsia and fluorescent green that float in the air, creating a beautiful interplay of colors on your wall.
