Fireball: een uitdagend heet snoepje

Wie in je jaren tachtig is opgegroeid kent de fireball ongetwijfeld. Het was een uitdaging om dit hete snoepgoed in je mond te houden tot het op was. Je hoofd nam de kleur van het snoepje aan, namelijk knalrood! Eenmaal gewend aan de hitte proefde je gelukkig ook de kaneelsmaak, het enige lekkere aan dit uitdagende snoepgoed. En op het eind werd je beloond met een kauwgom die zich in de kern van het snoepje bevond.

De fireball diende als uitgangspunt voor het wandobject Fireball dat ik speciaal maakte voor de zomerexpositie Los & Vast bij Sille Gallery.

De twee delen waaruit dit wandobject bestaat zijn met elkaar verbonden door middel van messing staafjes, als ware het kauwgomdraden.

Fireball: a challenging hot candy

Who grew up in the eighties undoubtedly know the fireball. It was a challenge to keep this hot candy in your mouth until it ran out. Your head took on the candy’s color of bright red! Once you got used to the heat, luckily you also tasted the cinnamon flavor, the only tasty thing about this challenging candy. And at the end, you were rewarded with a gum that was located in the candy’s core.

The fireball served as the starting point for the wall object Fireball that I made especially for the summer exhibition Los & Vast at Sille Gallery.

The two parts that make up this wall object are connected by brass rods, as if they were gum threads.
